Because history needs a little creativity sometimes...
Stone To Iron Age Planning
I have updated this planning (August 2022) and feel that the two sets of planning are quite different from each other. With this in mind, I have decided to keep BOTH sets of planning and resources available.
Set A is the most recent version and Set B is the previous version. If you wish to have the accompanying resources for either or both, please feel free to message me through the Contact page, stating which versions you would like.
Stone To Iron Age Planning - Set A
Stone Age To Iron Age Planning - Set A
(Intended For Y3)
Please note that this planning is intended for my OWN school and therefore includes local links to Teesside and the North East but can be used as a basis for your own planning, free of charge.
This newest set of planning spends the first few lessons examining the chronological aspects that lots of children find difficult during this topic before looking at the achievements, social structures, housing, settlements and beliefs of Prehistoric Britain. The aim is to compare each age in each lesson so that the children can see how each ASPECT progressed throughout time, rather than doing a block on the Stone Age, a block on the Bronze Age and then a block on the Iron Age and not covering all of the aspects in each block. This also comes with a Crib Sheet for the children to record the most relevant aspects of each lesson and an Enquiry Framework document showing how each lesson fits together to answer the main statement about the topic, helping to keep it coherent and purposeful. There is also a rationale for the enquiry and alternative questions/statements that could be used or tweaked.
If you would like THIS set of planning, please state SET A in your message through the Contact page.
Some external resources in this planning MAY include:
Mozaweb.com - Subscription to over 1,200 3D models for history, geography and science
A Street Through Time - An amazingly visual book published by DK and illustrated by Steve Noon - (Buy it on Amazon here)

Stone Age To Iron Age Planning - Set B
(Intended For Y3)
Please note that this planning is intended for my OWN school but can be used as a basis for your own planning, free of charge.
Similar to Set A, this set of planning again focuses on comparing each age in each lesson so that the children can see how each ASPECT progressed throughout time, but chooses to look at Food and Entertainment as other themes and spends more time on beliefs . This also comes with an Enquiry Framework document showing how each lesson fits together to answer the main statement about the topic, helping to keep it coherent and purposeful. There is also a rationale for the enquiry and alternative questions/statements that could be used or tweaked.
If you would like the accompanying resources for this set, please state SET B in your message. If you would like both, please state SET A and SET B.
